What tent capacity should I choose?

Tent capacity assumes people sleeping side by side with no gear. If you want to keep packs inside or have more room, choose one size up from your group, for example a 4-person tent for 3 hikers.

What is the difference between single-wall and double-wall tents?

Double-wall tents have a separate inner tent and flysheet, so they handle rain better and reduce condensation inside, which suits Indonesia's tropical mountains. Single-wall tents are lighter and quicker to pitch but more prone to condensation.

What basic camping gear do I need?

At minimum: a tent, a sleeping bag rated for the location's temperature, a sleeping mat, a portable stove and cookset, a headlamp, and a flysheet for a cooking or shelter area. Adjust for trip length and weather.
